The author of five novels, two books of non-fiction, a play, and several children's books, he has been hailed by some as Israel's best journalist and compared to Gunter Grass and Gabriel Garcia Marquez for his weaving of fantasy and reality. Grossman utilizes a wide range of literary devices--especially frequently shifting voices and points of view--to force into relief the more human aspects, dimensions, and repercussions of the ongoing Middle Eastern conflict. 

His major works include: Jogger (1983), Smile of the Lamb (1983), See Under: Love (1986), Yellow Wind (1987), and most recently You Shall Be My Knife (2002), a story of two middle-aged people trying to find their way out of loneliness.
