Jorie Graham United States of America PWF 2006
After being expelled from the Sorbonne for taking part in student protests, Graham transferred to New York University. It was here that her attentions turned to poetry. Though formally complex, her rhythms are never limiting. They work with her images to convey the most fundamental human truths and the paradoxes that accompany them.
She has published ten volumes of poetry, including The Field of Unified Dreams and her most recent collection, Overlord.
“But the wall, of the flesh, opens lessly, its vanishing point so deep, and receding, we have yet to find it”
Jorie Graham divides her time between Cambridge, Massachusettes, and her home in France.
