"Dispatches from the Diaspora❞
From Nelson Mandela to Black Lives Matter, Gary Younge has never taken a back seat. The acutely skeptical observer for The Guardian newspaper for the past twenty-six years, brings us a blackboard of tales that we would prefer as fiction. “We are the sum of the things we pretend to be."
Gary Younge, award-winning author, broadcaster and professor of sociology at the University of Manchester, was born in 1969 in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, England. Recipient of the 2023 Orwell Prize for Journalism, he continues to write for The Guardian, as well as The Nation, The New York Review of Books, and The Financial Times.
His books include: No Place Like Home, A Black Briton's Journey Through the Deep South; Another Day in the Death of America; and Stranger in a Strange Land, Encounters in the Disunited States.
